Why Lavender Lake?
The name "Lavender Lake" is a historical nod to the Gowanus Canal—an industrial waterway running through the heart of our Brooklyn neighborhood. In the early 20th century, the canal developed a surreal, lavender-colored sheen due to the mix of chemical runoff, oil slicks, and industrial waste. While the name began as a dark joke, it became a local nickname that stuck.
